PRAETORIAN GUARD
News Letter
From the
President

Another successful trip through the mountains. Last month we
revisited the Tail of the Dragon. The cabin was nice, the weather iffy. Despite the chances of weather, we
road the route. As it turned out, the weather was good for us. Now when we road the Devil's Triangle, it was
a different story. It was as if the devil him self tried to keep us from making the ride. Upon completing the
first leg, all hell broke loose. Gale force winds the flash of lightning and the crack of thunder roared
through the area. This was not enough to keep us from completing the ride. A little colder and a lot wetter,
we initiated out newest membership to the Order of the Dragon Slayer's and the Order of the Devil's Triangle.
Congratulations to those who earned there patches. The Ride Coordinator is already working hard to plan rides
over the next year.

From the Sergeant At Arms

I hope this riding season has been going well. With
the heat upon us, even though that cold beer maybe tasty, remember to drink water or sports drinks
periodically. You do not want to become a statistic out on the road. Hydrate, hydrate,
hydrate!

We need to know who plans on attending Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach
Florida by August 15, 2011. This way we can make the clubs hotel reservations and negotiate a fair price.
Please contact me at roughrider@praetorianguardrc.net if you are planning to attend. Once the
room rates are firm, I'll let everyone the amount of their
deposit.

The Founding Members have authorised the wear of the Praetorian Guard Standard patch
by all officers, Full patch members, Auxiliary Members, Junior Patch Members and Prospects. If you have not yet
received your standard patch, please order through the Quartermaster. The Standard patch is a replica of the eagle
that adorn the top of the Praetorian Guard battle signifier standard. All members are required to have the standard
sewn on their vest by 1 October, 2011.
We still have plenty of the long and short sleeve white
Praetorian Guard Tee Shirts available for these hot summer rides. Don't be fooled by the heat. We still have the
long sleeve and short sleeve black tee shirts available too.
Before long the cool rides of the fall will be upon us. Don't
get caught out in the cold. Order you Praetorian Guard Fleece, turtle neck, and sweat shirt before the weather
turns on you. That way nothing can stop you from a great riding experience.

First Chapter Praetorian
Guard
From The Road
Captain
The
weather has been hot here, frequently dipping into the triple digits. This has not stopped the 1st Chapter
Praetorian Guard from hitting the road. To combat the summer heat, we have adapted many of our scheduled
rides from the morning time, to the evening. This has given us the opportunity to see the night life of many
of our favorite watering holes. We have found many of our members like the new schedule and most of our
members have been very active this summer.

From the Business Manager
The
First Chapter is working diligently on a charity run in support of stopping child abuse. We expect the event
to occur in September. Please check the ride calendar for the up coming
event.
Congratulations!

Welcome to our newest Full Patch Member. Philly, formerly Prospect Six, was Patched into
the 1st Chapter Praetorian Guard on July 24, 2011. Philly was a highly dedicated Prospect and we foresee him
making a positive impact on the Praetorian Guard's future. Congratulations
Philly!
Out
of the area, but not out of our hearts.

With the good news of welcoming our new Full Patch Member came the sad news that one of our
good friends and Full Patch Members job has taken him away from our local area. We wish him the best and look
forward to your rapid return
CB.

Second Chapter Praetorian Guard
From the Road Captain
This Summer instead of taking
your jacket off to try and stay cool here is something you may not know. While some may think it is
cooler to take your jacket off after the temps reach 90+. Have you ever seen that guy go by you with
his jacket on and smiling like he has his own personal ac in his pocket. Well he does have his own
ac. You can do this same thing while protecting your self from the unfortunate event that you go
down. If you wet your t-shirt down before you put your jacket on, this allows the body to cool it self
at higher temperatures making summer riding more comfortable and safe. I know this may sound strange to
some but when you're out there riding try it one day and see for your self. This is the same effect as
a so called swamp cooler. It really does work and help you stay cooler while being
safe.
On a P.S. Note who doesn't want
to see the significant other in a wet
t-shirt!!!!!!
Just a little humor
everyone.
When It comes to your helmet you
can use a bandana to insulate ypur head, but remember that this will reduce the air flow that the helmet was
designed to have. You may have to try a couple of different things to find what works best for
you.
Stay safe and ride hard!
Keep the rubber down.

Support For Our
Troops
We are so proud of our members
who have recently returned from the combat zone. We are glad that all have returned to us and their families
safe and sound. We look forward to the day when all our members are back and riding with us
again.
In the Spotlight
Flower Child. I think this quarter Flower Child has the biggest news
to share with the club. It came in the way of a bouncing baby boy. Congratulations to Road Rash and Flower
Child on their new arrival.
